Ontario is one of Canada’s most populous provinces, and we know that many of our compatriots, like other applicants around the world, choose to live and immigrate each year. So we have good news for those interested in immigrating to Canada, especially Ontario. According to the latest news, the province of Ontario will be able to select 6,900 new immigrants in 2019 through its “provincial immigration program”.

The Canada Provincial Immigration Program, or PNP for short, allows some Canadian provinces and territories (9 provinces and 2 counties) to select a certain number of permanent immigrants each year to fill the labor gap. Last year, the Ontario Provincial Immigration Program selected 6,600 asylum seekers. The program selected another 250 applicants at the end of 2018, bringing the total number of selected applicants to 6850.

At the same time, the province of Ontario wants to add 1,000 people to the 2019 quota, which means that the number of elected officials will reach 7,600 this year. Ontario says the increase is due to the urgent need for a provincial immigration program. In 2019, 6,650 applicants will be selected and 250 vacancies will be considered for temporary foreign workers with intermediate skill level (TFW). This was announced by the Canadian Immigration, Citizenship and Asylum Office on March 12.

Most invitations will be issued through various OINP migration routes, including the Express Capital Priorities route associated with Express Entry. Of course, Ontario has three other Express Entry-related immigration routes: Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class.

Immigration routes related to the Ontario Express Entry allow the province to wait in line for qualified provincial and federal applicants and select them for permanent residence.

Candidates nominated for provincial residency by Ontario receive an additional 600 points in the comprehensive ranking system, which can put them at the forefront of choosing to apply for permanent residency in Canada.

Human Capital Priorities was Ontario’s most active migration route in 2018. Ontario also has several immigration routes that operate independently of the Express Entry. Among them, we can mention Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream, which selected the highest number of applicants in 2018. Then there is Masters Graduate Stream, which issued 1,215 invitations to applicants who had graduated from an Ontario eligible university with a master’s degree
